Tourism in Pokhara



Pokhara is a city on Phewa Lake, in central Nepal. It’s known as a gateway to the Annapurna Circuit, a popular trail in the Himalayas. Pokhara is a favorite city for many visitors because of many fantastic tourist sights and things to do. After Kathmandu city, it is also one of the major tourism hubs in Nepal. Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Pokhara is from September to November and the again early May. It does tend to get very cold in December and January and it rains very heavily from May till August, so these months should be avoided.

  1. World Peace Stupa

World Peace Stupa is located on the southern side of Phewa lake in the top of the mountain. It is one of the best and popular hiking destination in Pokhara. Its obvious reason is from the top of the hill you’ll get the spectacular mountain views of the Annapurna range. The Peace Pagoda has four main Buddha statues. All these statues reflect four prominent stages of Buddha’s life.

2. Phewa Lake

Phewa lake is the second largest lake of Nepal and the largest lake of Pokhara valley. It is located in the south of the Pokhara. The Phewa lake is one of the major attraction for foreign and national travelers as well. As in the middle of the lake, there is a temple of Barahi in the Island. A number of visitors visit the temple and take boating experience on this lake. Barahi temple is the religious monument built in the middle of the lake. Besides this, you can also get a great view of Mt. Macchapucchre from the Phewa Lake, the next attraction of the lake. Explore the lake on boat tours you’ll be mesmerized as the lake is surrounded by Sarangkot and Kaskikot hills on the northern side.

One of the huge stalagmite is usually worshipped as Shiva Lingam. The peaceful atmosphere of the cave will definitely soothe your senses and will let you introspect a little bit. Amidst the regular hustle and bustle of the city, it is a good place to spend some peaceful time. 6. Devi’s Fall

A spectacular fall which you might have never seen before, the peculiar thing about this fall is that the starting point of this fall where Pardi Khola stream which eventually vanishes in the underground. The most amazing thing about this fall is that you can clearly hear the sound of the water which eventually strikes the fall. The cascading waterfall secretly comes and meets the cave which makes this fall a must-watch in Nepal. Monsoon is the best time to visit.

7. Ghorepani Hill

You can find some of the hidden mysteries pertaining to Mount Everest. You can check out the records of several mountaineers like Mr Herzog. It is however one of the must visit place when you are in Pokhara. Best time to visit is October.

10. Annapurna Butterfly Museum

If you have always loved to catch butterflies when you were young then Nepal is a land to witness some beautiful looking colorful butterflies. The small museum has housed wide variety of Butterflies which will fill you with a wide variety of knowledge. Every single minute that you spend in this museum is all worth it. The interiors of the museum is quite earthy which makes it a delight for most of the visitors. Don’t forget to see Corman Birdming which is the largest butterfly of Nepal.
